All better now..
Cousin Chris came over Monday to take me to the Dr. and to watch Oda Mae while I was there. I made him put Oda Mae in her car seat in case he had to strap her in and come get me after I was done. Now, Cousin Chris has very little "baby" experience since he's the youngest and about to graduate from high school. He was trying to buckle her in and was tipping her all around trying to get things right when Oda Mae started giggling at him. I think Oda Mae wants to marry Cousin Chris some day; she likes him pretty well. Someday she'll understand that the 18 year age difference and the fact that they are 1st cousins will make that more than just a little improbable.
Here is Oda Mae riding her car...
Someday, she'll be riding one of these bad boys...

Recovering...
Oda Momma was on vacation for a couple of days and had to go into work this afternoon and evening. Oda Mae and I are trying to keep ourselves entertained. It would be easier if I felt like entertaining, but I'm sure we'll make it.
Time to go find something that will keep her occupied for the next 6 hours.

Going's on...
Of course yesterday was mothers day. Oda Momma had to work so we brought home Macaroni Grill when she got home. She got to spend some fun time with Oda Mae after that. Oda Momma has a great little Mother's Day post on her BLOG. Go check it out. It's really amazing how much Oda Mae has grown since last Mother's Day. What is even more amazing is how much she has grown since yesterday.....
They grow up fast don't they! :)
On another note....tomorrow is the big day for me. I'm going in at 9:30 in the morning to have my head cleaned out. Gonna have a deviated septum repaired, a uvula trimmed up, and the snot sucked out of my sinuses. Sounds like fun, don't it? The good thing is that there won't be any scars, cause they're not gonna cut me open on the outside....Hmmmmmm, I wonder how they're gonna get in there? Anyway, wish me luck. I'm just gonna sleep through it all, and probably through the next couple days as well (thank God for liquid Hydrocodone!!!)

Tagged....
Here it goes....
What's in the fridge?
Here I've got milk, water, butter, lite sour cream, eggs, carrots, onions, butter, cheese. Oda Momma has a grape soda back there and that pink stuff is my practice frosting. MMMmmmm I'm having leftover grilled chicken for lunch.
What's in the closet?
Pretty standard closet, crammed with clothes and a wooden bowl that used to belong to my great-great grandmother that I need to send off to my great aunt. I'm the family historian don't ya know.
What's on the nightstand?
Picture of Oda Mae, clock, lamp, baby monitor, "I Know This Much is True" by Wally Lamb (so far it's pretty good), and kleenex.
What's in the car?
Misc. papers that need to be filed away, YoYo Ma/Bach cello suites, Gerry Mulligan quartet w/ Chet Baker (my favorite jazz trumpeter), Dolly Parton/The Grass is Blue (great CD!), Dvorak (New World Symphony) I'm playing that piece this weekend, and an air pump for Oda Mae's jogger stroller that has a slow leak in one of the tires.
In the trunk we have two music stands, tile spacers, diaper bag, stroller, and some car wipy things.
And now you know.

Learning new stuff...
We've been teaching Oda Mae the different parts of her body. We'll ask her stuff like: Where is your head? Where is your tummy?, and she'll show us where it is. That kind of stuff. The other day we were in the car going somewhere and we were stopped at a red light. Oda was getting kind of tired and a little cranky so I decided to play our little game with her while I was setting there. So I asked her where her head, tummy, ears, and tongue were. She's really good at all of these already so I decided to try a new one. I asked her where her feet where and I grabbed her feet and told her "here are your feet." She laughed and giggled. After a couple of times doing that I asked her "Where are your feet?" and she reached down and grabbed her feet. Now she's got it. All this just sitting at a red light. Just amazing!
Yesterday, we also started learning how to use our fork and spoon at dinner time. She did really good for a first timer. I helped her with her spoon a few times and she started to get it after a while. The fork was a little more tricky. We have to make sure that we "stab" the meat and not Daddy's hand. I think she'll get the hang of it pretty soon.
So, yes, it's really amazing to me how much she learns and how fast she is able to learn it. I am positive that she can learn more than I could possibly teach her in a day. Daddy's just trying to stay a head of the game.
