Oda Mae's still sick...

We went to the doctor this morning. Oda Mae has an ear infection. The doctor prescribed some medicine for her to take twice a day for ten days. As the doctor was telling me about all of this she mentioned, quite haphazardly that some diarrhea may occur. She said that if this happened more than 10 times a day to give her a call and she would change the prescription. Now, I'm thinking while she's telling me this that Oda Mae hardly has 10 dirty diapers a week. 10 A DAY!!!!!! I may be giving her a call tomorrow.

I looked up ear infection on google and THIS describes exactly what Oda Mae has been going through the last couple of days.

Wish me luck!

Recovering...

You see these things?

Oda Mae got several toys for Christmas. EVERY SINGLE ONE of these toys had these stupid wire twisty tie things all over it.

Now, I'm all for product security. I'm sure that local retailers get ripped off way too often, but this has gone beyond ridiculous. Not only is every toy strapped in securely, but the thing is just completely wired up: front, back, side, inside, and outside. And then, the tie thing is tied around to the right first and then the tied wire is bent over and retied to the left. CLICK HERE to find out how I feel about the people who put these things on toys.

Oda Mae was sick yesterday; she had a fever of 100 all day. She's feeling better today.

She loves her "musical" potty.

I kind of wish my potty played music too. :)

Sincerely,

Oda Wave....

Today Oda Mae had crawled into the hallway from her bedroom as I sat in the chair that is in her room. I waved at her an said "Hi". She waved back and then proceeded into the bathroom.

Not a big deal to her, but it made me laugh. I'll try and get a pic of her waving.

How many more days 'till Christmas?

Oda-a-Sketch

Oda Mae wanted me to remind everyone that Christmas is on its way and that this will be her first Christmas and YOU don't want to miss it. Her list is very simple...

ODA LIST

Oda Daddy wants to remind everyone that Oda Mae has a college fund set up and that you may want to consider adding to that in lieu of buying everything on the Oda List.

Oda Jammies

What is this? "Old Glory"? A color coordinated inmate?

It's Oda Mae's Red and White Striped jammies. We got some cool new jammies the other day. Yes they have somewhat of a Christmas theme.

And then there are the Green Velvety Rudolph PJ's as well.

Oda Mae and I will update this post as we go through the rest.

Here is Oda Mae in her Red Reindeer PJs tonight.
Happy Holidays!

Holiday concert a present for the ears

A review from Saturday's concert....

"...At one point Itkin, tongue-in-cheek, told the audience how modern orchestras could not possibly perform without conductors and promptly left the stage. The orchestra played "Sleigh Ride" perfectly in his absence with the sounds of clopping hooves, a lashing whip and neighing coming in all the right places...."

I post this here because I was the "neighing". :)

I'll put this quote in my biography from now on.

A Fun New Series of Oda Portraits

So I really have nothing better to do this morning except come up with clever ways to entertain myself while out of town. See Below: my rehearsal this morning was canceled. :)

I decided that since the Oda Family had not had a "Christmas Portrait" made, I would make some up for the blog.

Here is Oda Mae with a very nice looking family I think.

Felice Navidad!

Eight (plus Oda Mae) is Enough!

Okay, one more...I'm going to get lunch.

New Background Music

Special thanks go out to Phil of "Daddy Blogs" fame for the new background music. You know it's gonna be good when you clap your hands on 1 and 3.

THIS is precisely why Brenda refuses to allow me to get on the roof when she isn't home.

I remembered that I have some pictures on my computer that I didn't post yet so here is your Oda fix for the day...

Today I am thankful for easy holiday music that doesn't have to be rehearsed for seven hours. Our music director gave us the morning rehearsal off (with pay). Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!

A Very Merry Oda Christmas...

Oda Momma and I were very fortunate to have been given a "new to us" digital camera right after the baby was born. Since then, we have taken over 8000 pictures. That's about 1000 pictures a month. We have been basking in the 21st century world of instant gratification. When Oda Mae was born I took several pictures with our very cool Canon Rebel 2000. I took all of my film to the one hour photo and paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $13.00 per roll (we of course had to get the CD rom so we could download them to our computer). Can you imagine, we had to wait a whole hour to see pictures of our Oda Mae. Usually we would look at the pictures while she was right in front of us and say, "Oh, look...she is so cute.")

When we got the digital camera we were home free. We could put only the really good pictures (8000 of them) right onto our computer and print them off at home or an online company that is cheaper than all the rest. INSTANT GRATIFICATION!!! Woo Hoo.....until we dropped the camera on concrete. $90.00 and one week later, we had the camera back from the repair shop and it was working almost as good as new. It never was really quite the same. Then we dropped it again a couple of months ago and after it coughed and gagged at us, it seemed to be doing okay...
(Yes that is duct tape holding the batteries in.) (No, we did not have the strap the first time we dropped it.)

UNTIL just the other day.

A few days ago as I was putting up our Christmas Lights (I was still in phase one of the lighting process *more on that later*) we had taken some really good pictures and all of a sudden the camera said "this card cannot be used".
WHAT?
I was just using it.
After some research we found that other happy-go-lucky photographers had the same problem. So I headed on down to the local office supply store to buy a new card. It worked just fine UNTIL two days ago when the same thing happened. So we finally gave up and figured that maybe it was time to get a new camera.

I went online today and did some research....here is what I came up with.

Canon Powershot S2 IS

Oda Mae and I went and got it. This camera is SWEET! Loads more stuff than I know how to use. Oda Mae and I are looking forward to experimenting. Compared to other cameras that have some of the same features, this one was about 1/2 of the cost. So Oda Momma and I have decided that this would be our Christmas gift to each other this year. (Merry Christmas Oda Momma!)

Here are some photos that we took today while we were experimenting.

So, look for some good and a lot of very bad experimental photos in upcoming posts. I'm also working on an "Oda Video". I'll be out of town for a couple of days, so be sure to check out Oda Momma's Blog for your weekend updates.

Oda Potter....

So I'm surfing some blogs tonight when I found a Daddy Blog that had this cool "face recognition" link on it. I promptly put in Oda Mae's face and this is what came up.....

Here is the picture of Oda Mae that I put in...

And the Face Recognition came up with...

Emma Watson, of Harry Potter fame. I knew that Oda Mae would be real smart like Hermione Granger!!!!

EDIT: Uncle Nonchalantsavant promptly merged the two faces together to come up with something that looks suspiciously like a monkey experiment gone wrong...
Thank you Uncle NCS!

BTW: Oda Momma and I went out on a date last night, (The first since July) and saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Very good! Kudos go out to Gran for odasitting a somewhat cranky Oda Baby! :) Thanks Mom!

Now....you need to plug in your face. Who do you look like?

P.S. I find it odd that when I spell check my posts, that the blogger spell checker does not recognize the word "BLOG".

a bit late, but it's all still the "Holiday Season".

Oda Mae had a great Thanksgiving. She got to eat Mac-N-Cheeze, Sweet Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, Lots of "Oda O's", Turkey (well she sucked on it anyway).

Oda Mae would like to thank everyone for coming over and playing with her.

Now....

Good Night!

Daddy/Husband Duties

Here is a very interesting article from May 13, 1955, that shows what was expected from the lady of the house. While unbelievably outdated for today's standards, this is what was really expected back in the days of Leave it to Beaver.

The Good Wife's Guide

Now days, life is a bit different. With so many Stay At Home Dads in the world, sometimes we just need a little help. Here is an article that has some very solid advice for the SAHD. I think that I'll take this to heart and really put forth some effort now that I know what my responsibilities are.
