Yesterday's Answer: The White House: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20500 (The Oval Office)
The Oval Office is the official office of the President of the United States, in the West Wing of the White House, built in 1902. The grand concept of an oval room had not figured in the original White House. An oval interior space is a Baroque concept that was adapted by Neoclassicism. White House Oval Office

Where in the World is Oda Mae
Yesterday's Answer: Stonehenge, Amesbury, Wiltshire, England
The megalithic ruin known as Stonehenge stands on the open downland of Salisbury Plain two miles (three kilometers) west of the town of Amesbury, Wiltshire, in Southern England. It is not a single structure but consists of a series of earth, timber, and stone structures that were revised and re-modeled over a period of more than 1400 years. In the 1940s and 1950s, Richard Atkinson proposed that construction occurred in three phases, which he labeled Stonehenge I, II, iii, IIOP, and IIS. This sequence has recently been revised in Archaeological Report (10) published by English Heritage.

Where in the World is Oda Mae?
Yesterdays Answer: The Great Wall of China. Between the Mangolian grasslands and the farmlands of Han: China.
Just like a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus stretching approximately 6,700 kilometers (4,163 miles ) from east to west of China. With a history of more than 2000 years, some of the section of the great wall are now in ruins or even entirely disappeared. However, it is still one of the most appealing attractions all around the world owing to its architectural grandeur and historical significance.

One Year Ago Today...
August 23, 2004...We had a very fun day one year ago. Check it out!
What a difference one year can make. A year ago I never expected to be a SAHD. I can tell you that Oda Mae and I are having a good time (most of the time). This is the most rewarding job I have ever done. I can't wait to see what the next year brings.
Here is Oda Mae's first picture at -9 weeks and 4 days.
Then she had, "a head and 4 "limb buds". There is a heart beat and a big cheeseburger smile!"
One year and 5000 (literally) pictures later...
She has a beautiful face, is trying to crawl and she has a loving heart and a big cheeseburger smile. She is also reading a book!

Only One Pic Today...
Thursday, August 18, 2005
Oda Baby loves to play with her "scary" dinosaur that plays classical music... She has learned to turn on her "bedside aquarium" all by herself. She said that she wanted one like her Grandma Marge...
Oda Mae models the latest in European Bibs. If you ask me, I think she looks a bit like Heidi of the Mountains...

She wakes up...
Here is a little story that you will all like.
Oda Mae has gotten to where she takes pretty good naps during the day. You might remember that when she first started, that she was not very akin to taking naps at all. At the time, she would only sleep 15 or 20 minutes. Now-a-days she usually takes three naps a day; the first two naps usually lasting between 2 and 2 1/2 hours and the third lasting about 1 hour. Woo Hoo...for long naps. Daddy can finish putting the bathroom back together. But I digress...Occasionally, Oda Mae will start fussing before her nap is over. I inevitably have stripper or adhesive all over something or I am trying desperately to not let the wall fall down on top of me. Nevertheless, Oda Mae manages not to go back to sleep and I have to go look in on her and give her her "Binky" again.
I usually go in her room with the stern, "you need to go back to sleep and finish your nap" look on my face. I find her binky, which she is usually laying on top of, and poke it back into her mouth and say, "go back to sleep, Oda Mae". Usually, she will fall right back to sleep and I am back to work on my project in just a couple of minutes. Every once in a while though, I get this...
The binky pops out, she looks up at me and gives me the biggest cheeseburger smile you have ever seen. I always try to keep my "Daddy's gonna get mad if you don't go back to sleep, face", but how can I with that cute little smile? She breaks me every time!
I'm gonna be a sucker some day when she starts to want stuff.

Guess what I was doing one year ago today...
From my blog August 4, 2004
Do you like the "photo blog"? Are you able to track our progress? How do you like our new person? And finally...Are you having fun?

"She [Brenda] has a doctor's appointment on the 23rd of this month. I'll happily go with her. I'm hoping to get photos of our new baby!!! Then I can proudly show them off. The problem is the 23rd is 19 days away. We can't tell anybody. So I think we should simply hibernate for the next 2 and 1/2 weeks. The past couple of days there has been some nausea, but I think I'll start feeling better soon. LOL!!!!! I'm going to start a photo blog for our new person. That way when we do tell everyone, they will be able to track our progress. How fun!!!!"

Oda Mae could kick this kids butt... SEE STORY
We started music lessons today...
Here she is practicing the piano part to the Hindemith trumpet sonata...
I told her that I wanted her to play this with me someday and she gave me this look...
Then she thought maybe she would practice the trumpet part instead...
She's getting better already...
